The Soca Valley belongs to the best paragliding areas in Europe. The valley, positioned after the hills which are the border to Italy and southern Julian Alps catch the sun the whole day, from East to West. It has outstanding thermals, steep mountain slopes and it offers unforgettable panoramic views. This results in very good flying conditions which make it possible to do long cross-country flights above the Julian Alps.
The two most used starting points are Stol near Kobarid and Kobala near Tolmin. There is a regular bus service bringing pilots and their gear up to the starting places. Other starting points are Mangartsko Sedlo above Log pod Mangartom, the Kanin and Planja above Bovec and Srednji vrh – Matajur and Kuk – Livek above the town of Kobarid.
